Photography

An observation of the world — people, craft, landscapes, and everyday moments.
Photography

A way of observing. A way of slowing down. A way of paying attention.

Photography has been an important part of Firefly’s journey from the very beginning. Some photographs are created for clients. Others emerge from travel, observation, fieldwork, research, and everyday life. Together, they form a visual archive of places, people, cultures, landscapes, and moments that have stayed with us over the years.

Many of the photographs featured here were made without an assignment, a brief, or a deadline. They were simply moments worth noticing.

What We Photograph

A visual diary, built over years

People, craft, landscapes, journeys, and the small details that give a place its character — photographed for clients and for ourselves.

01

People

Faces often reveal stories that words cannot. This collection includes portraits from cities, villages, workshops, institutions, markets, homes, and places encountered along the way. Some were photographed during professional assignments. Others during travel and personal exploration. Together, they reflect the diversity of people who shape our experiences and understanding of the world.

02

Craft & Culture

For many years, photography has been an important part of documenting artisans, crafts, traditions, and cultural practices. These photographs explore the relationship between people and the objects they create. Hands at work. Materials in transformation. Tools shaped by use. Knowledge passed from one generation to another.

03

Landscapes

Landscapes often reveal as much about a place as the people who inhabit it. Mountains, forests, rivers, roads, fields, villages, and changing weather have been recurring subjects throughout our journeys. Many of these images come from Uttarakhand and the Himalayan region. Others from different parts of India and beyond.

04

Travel & Observation

Not every photograph fits neatly into a category. Some are fragments of journeys. Some are small details that caught our attention. Some simply capture the mood of a place at a particular moment. Together they form a visual diary built over many years of movement and observation.

05

Black & White

Removing colour often shifts attention towards light, form, texture, expression, and composition. This collection brings together images that explore simplicity through monochrome photography.

06

Personal Projects

Alongside commissioned work, photography continues to play an important role in personal projects involving documentation, research, publications, exhibitions, and visual exploration. Many of these projects evolve over long periods of time, gradually taking shape through repeated visits, conversations, and observation.

Some photographs explain. Some document. Some persuade.
Others simply invite us to pause and look a little longer.

Why Photography Matters

It has taught us patience. It has taught us observation.

Photography has influenced much of the work we do at Firefly. It has shaped the way we look at communication, design, people, places, and visual relationships. And perhaps most importantly, it has taught us to pay attention to details that are often overlooked.

These images are part of that ongoing invitation.

Photography is more than a medium for us — it is a way of staying curious, observant, and connected to the world around us.
